The Central Region of the Maryland Small Business & Technology Development Center receives official citation from Senator Catherine Pugh in recognition of the Open House Celebration & 24 years of service!

The Central Region SBTDC held an Open House on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 to share their many products and services available to the small business community. Resource partners, legislators, and small business owners were in attendance for the 2 hour affair that ended with a networking reception. Senator Verna Jones-Rodwell and Senator Catherine Pugh both spoke on the exceptional service and support that the SBTDC has offered to the small business community for 24 years.

Other attendees included SBA District Director Steve Umberger, the Dean of Merrick School of Business Darlene Smith, and MD SBTDC State Director Renee Sprow.

Maryland SBTDC  Central Region Awarded "Region of the Year!"

Kiesha Haughton Smoots, Regional Director of the Maryland Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Central Region, announced that Craig Panos has been selected to be the 2012 Maryland State Star. The State Star award is a prestigious recognition that signifies outstanding performance in meeting economic impact goals, making a major contribution to the SBDC’s various programs, and showing a strong commitment to the small business community in Maryland.

"I am delighted to make this announcement, and to recognize Craig Panos for his extraordinary contributions to the work of the Central Region SBDC and the small business community," said Ms. Smoots. "Contributing factors to his selection include his strong work ethic, economic impact, customer service, and overall goal performance. In the 2011 fiscal year Craig counseled 379 clients and helped them increase sales by $18.4M, obtain $6.8M in financing, create 74 jobs, and retain 85 jobs. His service to small businesses in Baltimore County has helped save and create jobs at a critical time in this tough economy."
